DuDu Rides (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the DuDu Rides mobile application (Android package: com.rides.Dudutech) and the website https://dudurides.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our app and related services.
By using DuDu Rides, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to:
- Passengers who book rides, browse offers, or rent vehicles through the app
- Drivers who register, go online, and complete rides through the driver mode
- Visitors who access our website or contact support
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide directly

2.3 Information stored on your device
The app may store the following locally on your phone (for example, using secure local storage):
- Access and refresh authentication tokens
- Your role (passenger or driver)
- Cached profile information
- Session state so you can stay signed in
You can remove this data by logging out or uninstalling the app.
3. How we use your information
We use collected information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Send one-time passwords (OTP) for phone verification
- Enable ride-hailing: fare estimates, driver matching, live tracking, trip status updates, in-ride messaging, payments, and ratings
- Enable driver services: online status, location updates to passengers, ride acceptance and completion, commission records, and KYC review
- Enable DuDu Rent: scooter listings, rental applications, document review, and payment processing
- Show special offers and products and link you to our shop when you choose to view them
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
- Improve safety, reliability, and performance of our services
- Comply with applicable laws and enforce our Terms of Service
4. App permissions
DuDu Rides requests the following permissions on your device:
Location (while using the app)
Used to find nearby rides, display maps, set pickup and drop-off points, and share driver location during active trips. We request foreground location only while the app is in use. We do not request background location access in the current app version.
Camera
Used when drivers take photos for identity and vehicle verification, or when you capture images for uploads.
Photos / media library
Used when you select existing images for driver verification documents, rental applications (such as citizenship or license copies), or payment proof uploads.
Internet
Required for account login, ride matching, maps, payments, chat, and all online features.
We do not request microphone, background location, or system overlay permissions in the current app version.
5. Real-time services and third parties
To operate DuDu Rides, information may be processed by or shared with:
Our backend services
- DuDu API — account, rides, drivers, rentals, payments, uploads, and chat
- Real-time messaging (Socket.IO) — live ride status and location updates
Mapping and routing
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim and Photon (Komoot) — address search and geocoding
- Geoapify (if configured) — address suggestions
- Routing service — turn-by-turn route geometry for maps
- Map display — maps rendered in the app for navigation assistance
When you use address search, limited location or search query data may be sent to these providers according to their own privacy policies.
Payment providers
- Khalti and eSewa — when you choose digital payment for rentals or related services. Payment processing is subject to each provider’s terms and privacy policy. We do not store your full payment wallet credentials.
Shop and offers
- Product listings may be loaded from our shop services. If you open a product, you may be directed to dudumart.shop or related shop pages, which are governed by that site’s policies.
Other users
During an active ride, passengers and drivers may see each other’s first name, phone-related contact for the trip, live location (driver), vehicle details, and chat messages as needed to complete the service safely.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the current app version.
6. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to:
- Provide the services you request
- Maintain ride, rental, payment, and support records
- Meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations
- Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements
Retention periods may vary by data type. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it in accordance with our internal policies and applicable law.
7. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
- HTTPS encryption for data transmitted between the app and our servers
- Token-based authentication for API access
- Access controls on server-side systems
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your phone and OTP codes secure.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:
- Access personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information in your profile
- Delete your account or request deletion of certain data
- Withdraw consent for optional processing where consent is the legal basis
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Deny permissions (location, camera, photos) — note that some features will not work without them

You can stop location sharing by denying location permission or by drivers going offline. You can log out at any time to clear session tokens from the device.
9. Children’s privacy
DuDu Rides is not intended for children under the age required to enter a binding contract in your jurisdiction (typically 18, or the age of majority in Nepal). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. International transfers
Our servers and service providers may process data in countries other than where you live. By using the app, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations, subject to appropriate safeguards where required by law.
11. Service area
DuDu Rides is primarily designed for use in Nepal, including the Kathmandu Valley area for ride services. Location and availability features may be limited outside supported areas.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at https://dudurides.com/privacy and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the revised policy.
